Dyer sits quieter than its neighbor Schererville, a few minutes further south and just as close to the Illinois line, and the newer planned developments here were laid out with wide streets that give a truck room to work. A Dyer street built for a modern subdivision gives the crew more room to park close to the door than an older block anywhere else in Lake County. Denise still asks about driveway length and any homeowners’ association rules, but there’s rarely a surprise waiting.
